Problems with prepositions

Rule 1.

You may end a sentence with a preposition. Just do not use extra prepositions when the meaning is clear without them.

Examples:

Correct: That is something I cannot agree with.
That is something with which I cannot agree.
Correct: How many of you can I count on?
Correct: Where did he go?
Incorrect: Where did he go to?
Correct: Where did you get this?
Incorrect: Where did you get this at?
Correct: I will go later.
Incorrect: I will go later on.

I must have been asleep when this rule was taught...I think we all have this problem!

Revision

I soon found myself 9,000 miles away from home, in a small town in the mountains of The Philippines. Sarah turned on me. I was so excited to here from her that day, as I anticipated receiving an e-mail from her. I was sitting ona piece of fire wood used as a makeshift chair, in the tiny one room shack, and as the hot rain dripped all around me I opened the e-mail, she ripped me apart, and kicked me while I was down. I would sing 'The Shins' "turn on me" to myself while walking down small dirt roads on quiet days.

The First Single

The Format, 'The First Single' is a great song, but more than that, When the Format were first starting out, they came to the Electric Theater in St. George as the opening, opening band. Their set was so fun, they really blew the other bands outa the water. The First Single will always remind me of that night, and meeting Sarah>;)

My Favorite Music Blog

Ben Folds, You to thank is at the top of my list because it reminds me of where I was at back in 2004, and what I was doing and going through. while listening to 'You to thank' I can remember feeling the energy of the Piano in this song, directly relating to me buying a piano and learning how to play...Rock On'!

Correct use of "Semicolon"

So when I was in the 3rd grade and we were learning a bunch of fun "Grammar" rules like semi colon and commas my track system was "off". I was able to pick up on the commas, but to this day I still don't understand the official use of a "semicolon
A semicolon separates items in a list when the items themselves have internal punctuation.
Here is an example of a semicolon.
Gabrielle likes oranges; cherries; and red, yellow, and green apples.

I was falsely accused!

So in this blog entry I would like to share about a story that came to mind after reading a few other blog entries that had been posted by a few other students...About 15 years ago, I was about 9 years old at the time. Me and my brother were really good friends and had always done pretty much everything together. At that time we shared a room and always enjoyed doing a variety of things from indoor basket ball, wrestling matches, and even intense video game wars. Although we were and still are really good friends, our friendly activities would always some how turn into him beating me up, and me amidst the real physical pain he had caused, I would end up laughing uncontrollably. On one particular occasion we had been in some sort of scuffle maybe over the remote control to the t.v., in any case among the confrontation the t.v. was changed from channel 13(fox) News, to Channel 12(Howard Stern) Which in my house, and by my parents standards at that time was about the worst thing that I could have been watching. And of coarse as it always does in a situation like that with punches and names flying as we fought wrestling on the floor, mom walks in. She took one look at what was being played in our bedroom. I really thought Howard could have stopped cold by the look she gave that t.v. set!

What conspired after that, I don't think I will ever forget. We were Being punished for something that we really didn't do or watch. We were being wrongly accused, and there was nothing that we could do to over-turn the judgment. We were proven guilty. We tried everything to persuade mom that the channel was just changed on accident. Even OJ's lawyers couldn't persuade this jury. We ended up being grounded, our t.v. privileges were taken away, and we were told how disappointed she was in us. The feeling of being falsly accused really left an impression in my mind that I don't think I will ever forget it.

In the years after that incident there have been many times that I have brought that experience up to my mom, just having a little fun. I am sure that my mom doesn't even really remember what happened, but we can always have a good laugh about things like that around the dinner table. Recalling child hood, and being able to reminisce about times past, even the things that weren't fun then. Are a fun dinner discussion now.

Good in the USA

This whole blogging thing is really new to me. I had a friend create a "Facebook" account for me and I do my best to sign in and out of it. I have lived in a 3rd world country the last several years and haven't had anything to do with computers...i-pods...cell phones. I think this semester will be good for me to learn some very basic tasks to be able to function in a society like ours in America. I don't know if we realize how advaced our society as a whole is compared to others in the very basic day to day things that we do. Such as interacting on computers, driving cars, or basic reading for that matter. We really have a lot here in the USA.

Indians in the cold...

Well The indian standing out outside the tent kinda had it coming to him...guess he shouldn't have been standing there. Kind of a shame if the "enemy" ended up being the indians only child who also happens to be a mute. Mahirap ang buhay!
