Today our group met at the Library, we discussed different ideas that we could cover for our project in doing research.
We talked about the following topics on the subject of "Psychology"
-Stockholm syndrome
-schizophrenia
-How to evaluate someone mentally unstable
-What drives someone to kill and commit crimes
-The effects of video games on the mind
-What kind of symptoms do psychologists treat
-Effects of Brain Damage on a person.
we decided on a question,
What are the different types of schizophrenia, and what effects does it have on the human mind?
We have a few games that we decided on using for our presentation. And we have also discussed the different ways in which we will research our topics and gain information.

prop essay Mark Reeder
Mark Reeder
Oppisition side of the essay
At the present time, our children are taught theories, and ideas of environmental radicals that the Earth is getting warmer and there is a hole in the ozone layer. The fact of these two topics is that they are just theory that cannot be confirmed as truth by any one group of scientists. And that theory is being taught to our children as fact. To make matters worse they are being told by their teachers that they should sign petitions in favor of action to support these claims, become politically active in wild political parties, and even write pleading letters to the President of The United States with topics these kids know nothing about. Teachers have almost more convincing power on children than their parents have on them, and if teachers, and professors continue to purposely force half truths and lies on impressionable youth, the children will continue to blindly follow causing a whole world of miscommunication and people fighting for causes that have no basis or truth, making the world a very scary and uncertain place.
Children should be taught that not everything we do as human beings in this world has a negative impact on the economy, and not everything done in favor of the economy has a positive impact. Children need to be taught that there can be moderation in all things, including recycling. Although recycling may be a good idea, it may also increase the use of energy, and valuable recourses, like oil, tax payer dollars, and our time. If there is scientific uncertainty on the subject of global climate changes, it is wrong to scare our children by telling them their parents are destroying the earth. At the present time environmental groups use blatant scare tactics on our children to make them think that the world is in trouble. Environmental groups enjoy scaring children into thinking that man has caused a hole in the ozone layer, and directly causing ice caps to melt, and animals to die. This is not only wrong information it is cruel to the whole human race. We are taught as human beings by some teachers and most environmental organizations to hate ourselves, and everything we do. The reality of this world is we are the biggest and most important part of the eco system. And as the whole “Eco Friendly” trend continues to evolve, a real form of evolution will eventually take over, and life as we know it will be over.
Environmental regulations can often have major impacts upon local and national economies. Many of today’s youth are misinformed and even restricted from participating in many types of activities due to environmental ideas taught in school. Even Children’s television networks like Nickelodeon have a huge impact on children feeding them with the ideas of Activists, and Politicians. Captain Planet and the Planeteers also tell children, "When it's your turn to have a family, keep it small. The more people there are the more pressure you put on our planet." They are taught that as population continues to increase, so will the human impact on the natural environment. They have been told, the more people on the planet means that more people are engaged in activities that destroy the world around them. Children learn the earth faces dire ecological consequences, from lack of recourses to famine and extinction.
Environmental education can be a valuable addition to school subjects, but only if it is done in a careful, thoughtful, and helpful way. Schools should be for education, not for brain washing our today’s youth. If educators approach environmental issues in a balanced way, then our children might be better informed with facts and truths. The result of children being taught the truth in their class rooms could be catastrophic. They will be better educated, happier, and ready to make real changes for the better when they grow up.

Movie Review "Point Break"
"It went bad body and people died, you gotta go down!"..."You know I can't handle a cage man!"
Hi flying stunts, poor hard-core acting, and a bad story line come together like never before in this amazing flop of a movie called "Point Break"...I watch a lot of movies, and I give credit where credit is due. In this case I give the credit to Patrick Swazy and Keanu Reeves for two entertaining hours of a movie that is only good enough for Thursday nights, and lazy Sunday afternoons.
The movie which Co-stars two of the biggest names in Hollywood brings surfing, and robbing banks to all new hights, and doesn't really keep you guessing, but this movie will hold your interest. And at times you will be sitting on the edge of your seat from suspense, or the desire to just walk out.
If you watch it, keep an open mind, and look for the scenes that other HollyWood films have ripped off from it. like"The Dark Knight", and "Mission Impossible" and have fun!

Grammar Post

The Simple Present of the verb to be is conjugated as follows. In spoken English, contractions are often used.
Without contractions With contractions
I am I'm
you are you're
he is he's
she is she's
it is it's
we are we're
they are they're
In written English, an apostrophe: ' is used in a contraction, to indicate that one or more letters have been omitted
This is a simple rule, but if you don't use the contractions, you will not sound like you know what you're taling about. I found this to be true when I lived in The Philippines.

Problems with this essay...
The assignment to write an "Ethnographic Essay" was a real challenge at first. It has given me an oportunity to really think a lot about a subject that I had already been familiar with. I think the biggest challenge that I had faced is that I already had a good basis for what I wanted to write about, but after interviewing different people, and obtaining information I knew that I needed to change the focus of my paper. So my biggest problem was what I needed to focus on. But after finding the direction it was a fun paper to write.
Comound Sentence

Compound Sentences
A compound sentence is a sentence that contains two complete ideas (called
clauses) that are related. These two clauses are usually connected in a compound
sentence by a conjunction. The coordinating conjunctions are "and", "but", "for", "or",
"nor", "yet", or "so".
Example:
Batman is a hero. He is successful in catching the criminals in his city.
Batman is a hero, and he is successful in catching the criminals in his city.
OR…
Batman is a hero, for he is successful in catching the criminals in his city.

Simple but effective...

Rule.
Use the exclamation point to show emphasis or surprise. Do not use the exclamation point in formal business writing.
Example:
I'm truly shocked by your behavior!
This is the simplest grammar post that I have done, but I actually learned something here...Don't ever put an "!" in a formal business writing...Did you know that?

3 Elements of my group "Remote Possibilities"
Remote Possibilities is a Model airplane group that takes in all aspects of Remote Control Models, but specializes in airplanes.
They were formed in 1986 by a group of hobby enthusiasts, and for a short time met in a basement of a bank, and gained almost 40 members their first meeting.
They host annual events which are known to people all over the U.S.A. Some people travel thousands of miles every year for single weekend event held in St. George.

Ethnographic Essay...

My "Ethnographic Essay" is going to be on a club here in St. George called "Remote Possibilities" It is a "Remote Control airplane club" which is mostly made up of old retired rich people. My dad was a co-founder of this club in the mid 1980's and since then has been turned into an 80 headed monster. The old people that belong to this club seem to have nothing better to do but complain and talk crap all day about everyone, and everything. I am not actively involved with the club so I find what they say and do very humerous. I have a lot of good questions to ask them, like what brought them into the hobby, and how do they afford it? Does it cost marital discord, because it costs so much!? I should find doing this project most enlightning.

Grammar Post...Fragments

I have not had a very long writing career, but in the writing of "My life sounds like this, I found myself writing a lot a "Fragment Sentences" So I thought I would research the subject a little bit.
A sentence fragment is an incomplete sentence. Some fragments are incomplete because they lack either a subject or a verb, or both. The fragments that most students have trouble with, however, are dependent clauses—they have a subject and a verb, so they look like complete sentences, but they don't express a complete thought. They're called "dependent" because they can't stand on their own (just like some people you might know who are SO dependent!). Look at these dependent clauses. They're just begging for more information to make the thoughts complete:
Because his car was in the shop (What did he do?)
After the rain stops (What then?)
When you finally take the test (What will happen?)
Since you asked (Will you get the answer?)
If you want to go with me (What should you do?)
Does each of these examples have a subject? Yes. Does each have a verb? Yes. So what makes the thought incomplete?? It's the first word (Because, After, When, Since, If). These words belong to a special class of words. If you know something about subordinating conjunctions, you can probably eliminate 90% of your fragments.First, you need to know that subordinating conjunctions do three things:join two sentences together make one of the sentences dependent on the other for a complete thought (make one a dependent clause) indicate a logical relationship.

Problems with prepositions
| Rule 1. | You may end a sentence with a preposition. Just do not use extra prepositions when the meaning is clear without them. Examples: | |
| Correct: | That is something I cannot agree with. That is something with which I cannot agree. | |
| Correct: | How many of you can I count on? | |
| Correct: | Where did he go? | |
| Incorrect: | Where did he go to? | |
| Correct: | Where did you get this? | |
| Incorrect: | Where did you get this at? | |
| Correct: | I will go later. | |
| Incorrect: | I will go later on. I must have been asleep when this rule was taught...I think we all have this problem! | |
Revision
I soon found myself 9,000 miles away from home, in a small town in the mountains of The Philippines. Sarah turned on me. I was so excited to here from her that day, as I anticipated receiving an e-mail from her. I was sitting ona piece of fire wood used as a makeshift chair, in the tiny one room shack, and as the hot rain dripped all around me I opened the e-mail, she ripped me apart, and kicked me while I was down. I would sing 'The Shins' "turn on me" to myself while walking down small dirt roads on quiet days.

The First Single
The Format, 'The First Single' is a great song, but more than that, When the Format were first starting out, they came to the Electric Theater in St. George as the opening, opening band. Their set was so fun, they really blew the other bands outa the water. The First Single will always remind me of that night, and meeting Sarah>;)
My Favorite Music Blog
Ben Folds, You to thank is at the top of my list because it reminds me of where I was at back in 2004, and what I was doing and going through. while listening to 'You to thank' I can remember feeling the energy of the Piano in this song, directly relating to me buying a piano and learning how to play...Rock On'!

Correct use of "Semicolon"
So when I was in the 3rd grade and we were learning a bunch of fun "Grammar" rules like semi colon and commas my track system was "off". I was able to pick up on the commas, but to this day I still don't understand the official use of a "semicolon
A semicolon separates items in a list when the items themselves have internal punctuation.
Here is an example of a semicolon.
Gabrielle likes oranges; cherries; and red, yellow, and green apples.

I was falsely accused!
So in this blog entry I would like to share about a story that came to mind after reading a few other blog entries that had been posted by a few other students...About 15 years ago, I was about 9 years old at the time. Me and my brother were really good friends and had always done pretty much everything together. At that time we shared a room and always enjoyed doing a variety of things from indoor basket ball, wrestling matches, and even intense video game wars. Although we were and still are really good friends, our friendly activities would always some how turn into him beating me up, and me amidst the real physical pain he had caused, I would end up laughing uncontrollably. On one particular occasion we had been in some sort of scuffle maybe over the remote control to the t.v., in any case among the confrontation the t.v. was changed from channel 13(fox) News, to Channel 12(Howard Stern) Which in my house, and by my parents standards at that time was about the worst thing that I could have been watching. And of coarse as it always does in a situation like that with punches and names flying as we fought wrestling on the floor, mom walks in. She took one look at what was being played in our bedroom. I really thought Howard could have stopped cold by the look she gave that t.v. set!
What conspired after that, I don't think I will ever forget. We were Being punished for something that we really didn't do or watch. We were being wrongly accused, and there was nothing that we could do to over-turn the judgment. We were proven guilty. We tried everything to persuade mom that the channel was just changed on accident. Even OJ's lawyers couldn't persuade this jury. We ended up being grounded, our t.v. privileges were taken away, and we were told how disappointed she was in us. The feeling of being falsly accused really left an impression in my mind that I don't think I will ever forget it.
In the years after that incident there have been many times that I have brought that experience up to my mom, just having a little fun. I am sure that my mom doesn't even really remember what happened, but we can always have a good laugh about things like that around the dinner table. Recalling child hood, and being able to reminisce about times past, even the things that weren't fun then. Are a fun dinner discussion now.

Good in the USA
This whole blogging thing is really new to me. I had a friend create a "Facebook" account for me and I do my best to sign in and out of it. I have lived in a 3rd world country the last several years and haven't had anything to do with computers...i-pods...cell phones. I think this semester will be good for me to learn some very basic tasks to be able to function in a society like ours in America. I don't know if we realize how advaced our society as a whole is compared to others in the very basic day to day things that we do. Such as interacting on computers, driving cars, or basic reading for that matter. We really have a lot here in the USA.

Indians in the cold...
Well The indian standing out outside the tent kinda had it coming to him...guess he shouldn't have been standing there. Kind of a shame if the "enemy" ended up being the indians only child who also happens to be a mute. Mahirap ang buhay!
